Your Access to Waikato DHB Library services and resources - have your say

30/3/2021

Hi

We are a small team of librarians with a wonderful selection of books, journal articles and databases. While our main customers are Waikato DHB staff we also provide information services/resources to other health professionals working in the Waikato region, including health professionals working in General Practice.

We are currently reviewing services, potentially reducing opening hours. We value your feedback, please help us to provide a service that will support you and your colleagues with evidence-based resources for the best possible health care.

Please complete this short survey (4 questions, 2mins).
Thank you so much for your time and thoughts:

Exciting opportunity available: Rural Cohort Manager position

29/3/2021

Tēnā koe,

Please circulate this email with anyone you think would be interested in applying for this role.

This is a reminder about the exciting opportunity available to help drive the rural perspective into the planning, design and roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination programme to rural communities.

Between now and the end of July, the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 Vaccine and Immunisation Programme Team (CVIP) will be designing and implementing a staged vaccination programme across New Zealand. It is recognised that rural communities have unique challenges and needs, and as such require specialist advice in ensuring that the systems are designed to meet those needs.
continued...
The New Zealand Rural General Practice Network is working with the Ministry to identify the right person for this role.

Based in Wellington for three days a week, or travelling regionally to visit stakeholders, the Ministry will cover travel and accommodation to make this position possible for the right person.

The Rural Cohort Manager will be responsible for assisting with the identification of appropriate delivery models and any variations required. The position will also support engagement with DHBs, PHOs and national bodies and provide advice to implementing partners where needed.

This is a flexible position, with the opportunity to be employed by the Ministry through secondment from an existing role, or by fixed term contract.

This position is available immediately so see the full advert for the Rural Cohort Manager role attached and apply today.

Prescribing errors Metformin, Jardimet and Galvumet

29/3/2021

Kia ora team, a reminder that Empagliflozin (Jardiance) and Vildagliptin (Galvus) used for diabetes management come in a combined dose with Metformin called Jardimet and Galvumet. If your patient is taking one of the combination options, it is a very rare instance that they would need additional metformin as well. Remember that a dose above 2 gms per day of Metformin increases the rate of side effects with little improvement in HbA1c.

  • Empagliflozin comes as a 10 mg or a 25 mg tablet or in various empagliflozin/metformin combinations (5 mg/500 mg; 5 mg/1000 mg; 12.5 mg/500 mg; 12.5 mg/1000 mg)
  • Vildagliptin is a 50 mg tablets or in combination with metformin 850 mg or 1000 mg tablets

There have been a number of prescribing errors picked up over the last few months.

Many thanks
Suzanne

St John - Requesting an ambulance

22/3/2021

St John are doing a follow up to previous communication around requesting an ambulance via the healthcare professionals number (0800 262 665) rather than 111. The key messages remain the same, if you could share this with your wider team that would be great.

There are also hard copies of this information being sent to provide to your general practice clinics.
