Flu vaccinations for education workforce

13 May 2020

This information has been taken from the Ministry of Education website.

At Alert Level 3, the Ministry of Education is providing one-off funding to cover flu vaccinations up to 30 June 2020 for the schooling and early learning centre education workforces. This workforce includes:

  • Any person employed or contracted as teaching, childcare staff, including specialist education professionals and others who provide support, for example, children with additional learning needs.
  • Any person employed by or contracted to an educational facility.

Schools and early learning centres normally providing a flu vaccination programme, can continue with this. We suggest these services ask their providers to give priority to staff returning to teach face-to-face.

IMAC have confirmed that schools will claim directly to the Ministry for the cost of these vaccinations. Individuals getting a flu vaccination from a pharmacy or practice will have to pay, get a GST receipt and claim back the cost through their employer.
